Objective

Objective of work package 2 is to get a detailed overview of the characteristics of the 5 pilot locations in terms of building technical issues, energy profiles, social profiles of occupants and the potential of energy efficiency measures. For every pilot location there will be a detailed description of a set of energy efficiency measures including retrofitting of building envelopes, retrofitting of the energy supply (generation, distribution and emission) and measures to improve the indoor environment including Indoor Air Quality, thermal comfort and noise.

Description of the work

Task 2.1 Final screening, selection of houses and buildings on locations

Task 2.2 Building technical analyses
Every pilot location will be analysed on its current characteristics including:

1. Energy use and energy profiles
2. Construction (thermal insulation, quality of windows, air tightness)
3. building physics (thermal bridges, moisture problems, mould growth, acoustical quality)
4. indoor environment (thermal comfort, indoor air quality, ventilations systems, presence of open combustion and/or unvented appliances

Task 2.3 Social analyses

1. social profile of inhabitants on locations

The results of this task is the input for WP4 Occupants

Task 2.4 Energy efficiency measures
The energy saving measures contain a total integrated set of measures and can include

1. upgrading the energy supply on location, heating and DHW generation
2. upgrading the building envelope (thermal insulation , windows, thermal bridges)
3. ventilations systems
4. integration of renewables
5. indoor environment (building materials, source elimination or control, improving thermal comfort)

Central in ECOLISH is the integral approach, finding a optimum between energy reduction and health.

Outcome of this work package
- A clear profile of the energy and building technical properties of the buildings
- A clear view of the social profiles of occupants
- Balanced set of measures (building technical and building services)
